2019 Charter Oak Book Awards K-3
The Charter Oak Book program Encourage K-3 students to develop an appreciation of outstanding writing and illustrations in current picture books. Promote recognition of authors and illustrators of books for children. Develop critical/evaluative thinking skills by judging the literary quality of nominated titles. The winner of the annual COCBA is selected by students in K through grade 3. Prepares students for participation in the Nutmeg Book Award Program.

THE NUTMEG BOOK AWARD ENCOURAGES CHILDREN IN GRADES 2-12 TO READ QUALITY LITERATURE AND TO CHOOSE THEIR FAVORITE FROM A LIST OF NOMINATED TITLES. JOINTLY SPONSORED BY THE CONNECTICUT LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (CLA) AND THE CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL LIBRARIANS (CASL), THE NUTMEG COMMITTEE IS COMPRISED OF CHILDREN'S LIBRARIANS AND SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALISTS.
